1 Year Anniversary Rally Overview

The 1YAR is an offline Rally run over a period of 7 weeks (including Christmas break). It comprises 5 individual Rounds based on the long Special Stages that we have not droven yet, with 1 stage being run each week.

Points will be awarded after each Round as follows: 1st place 25 points, 2nd 22 points, 3rd 20 points, then 19, 18, 17 etc. down to 1 point for 22nd place.

Some things you need to know...

  • Driving Standards
  •
Your should aim to keep your car on the road at all times. If you have an off-road excursion that is judged to have gained you time, there will be added some extra seconds to your time for each incident that occurs.
Cuts that are obviously deliberate will result in disqualification.

  • Driver's Licence

  • Car Physics
  •
No changes may be made to the physics in the game. A standard ral.cfg is available for download from the website after you get the seasoncode to use (see below for more info about the seasoncode).

  • The RSL Forum
  •
The URL of the forum is www.activescore.com/rally/bbs.html and you should check this regularly. You can be certain there will be plenty of good natured banter during the Rally - feel free to take part.

  • GMT - Greenwich Mean Time
  •
The RSL Championship is international in nature. You will be competing against some of the best drivers from around the world. In order to ensure that everyone knows when events are scheduled to take place, all times are expressed as GMT. You can check the current time in GMT by visiting this website:
    www.freenetpages.co.uk/hp/risingearth/timegmt.html

  • The 'Pressure Drive'
  •
To simulate the pressure of driving in a real rally, the time available to drive the stage 'for real' is limited.

    Taking part in the Rally

  • Overview of a week in this event
  •
The weekly procedure is as follows:

    1. Stage and car details are announced on Sunday at around 21:00 GMT.
    2. Collect your seasoncode from the website.
    3. Include the seasoncode in your ral.cfg file!
    4. Drive the stages and save your replays.
    5. Check your replay for cuts.
    6. Zip your replays into one file.
    7. Upload the zipped file to the website.

  • 1. Stage announcements
  •
During the Rally, on Sundays at around 21:00 GMT. I will announce on the forum and on the frontpage car to use and stage to drive. All replays must be uploaded before 21:00 GMT the following Sunday.

  • 2. Collect your seasoncode
  •
When you feel that you are ready to drive the stage, log onto the member's area of the website and click "Get seasoncode" button to get your seasoncode. This starts the timer running. You then have a maximum of 3 hours in which to drive the stages and upload your replays. Ensure you make a note of the seasoncode you have been allocated.

  • 3. Include your seasoncode in your ral.cfg file!
  •
Edit your ral.cfg file and include the line:
    Seasoncode=####
Where #### is the seasoncode you just collected from the website. Important: If you forget to do this before you drive, your replays will not be valid.

  • 4. Drive the stages - the 'Pressure drive'
  •
Don't forget to save your replays. It is probably wise to drive a conservative 'banker lap' at first to ensure you have a valid replay to submit. Make a note of your replay numbers for when you zip your replays. Keep an eye on the time remaining.

  • 5. Check your replay for cuts.
  •
The 3 hours you have before the zipfile must be on server is based on this:
    * 2h 30min. driving
    * 20min. to watch your own replay
    * 10min. upload time

When you upload, you would be asked to give your opinion on how many extra seconds that should be added to your time for obvious cuts that gain time. This is just to help the people that should verify the replays later.

  • 7. Zip your replays
  •
Zip your replays into a single zipfile using a zipping utility such as winzip.

  • 8. Upload your replays
  •
Log onto the member's area of the website. Enter your driving licence code and upload your zipped file containing your replays.
You should upload your replays within 3 hours of collecting your seasoncode. Late uploads will be subject to a time penalty of 1 second for every 5 minutes overdue.
All uploads must be completed by the following Sunday at 21:00 GMT.
